Joseph Warren was an American doctor and leader during the American Revolution, he played the leading part in Patriot organizations located in Boston. Joseph Warren Military Career And Death – All You Need To Know

On the 31st of May 1775, Joseph was elected to the presidency of the Third Provincial Congress. With his new post, he played an important part in recruiting soldiers during the Siege of Boston.

He was promoted to major general on the 14th of June 1775. After that, the general declined Israel Putnam and Colonel William Prescott’s offers to become their commanders, claiming that he lacked more than a few years of military experience.

Instead, he decided to join the army as a soldier protecting Breed’s Hill after knowing that the fighting would take place there. He also positioned himself in the redoubt, when Prescott’s soldiers were already exhausted.

When the British attacked the walls of the Redoubt in the final battle on the 17th of June 1775, he battled in the cover forces until they fired the last shot to give time to the militia to retreat. The forensic investigation has discovered that he was killed by a musket that hit him from the front and slammed through his skull, leading to his death instantly, and then his body was disfigured by bayonets, before being thrown in a shallow grave.

A few days later, British Lieutenant James Drew was found again digging up his body to carry out every act of brutality that could be imagined, such as spilling his blood and cutting off the head of the victim.

On the 21st of March 1776, Paul Revere helped Joseph’s brothers to locate his body at the frontline by recognizing the silver bridgework which he had used to secure an artificial tooth into Joseph’s mouth. His body was initially buried in the Granary Burying Ground before being relocated to St. Paul’s Church in 1825.
